Artist Residence London
INTERIOR DESIGN: Justin Salisbury and Charlie Newey
Included in The Sunday Times “Ultimate 100 British Hotels”, Artist Residence London is an intimate, homely 10-bedroom townhouse hotel with restaurant and bar, located in London’s Pimlico district, just a stone’s throw from Victoria Station, Sloane Square and Belgravia. The original building, a public house designed in 1852 by master planner Thomas Cubitt, who was renowned for creating the Belgravia and Pimlico neighbourhoods of London, took two years to restore. Meanwhile the Artist Residence team was busy sourcing artwork and individual pieces of furniture to ensure that the Pimlico hotel would reflect the informal, eclectic style already established at their hotels in Brighton and Penzance. Once again Anglepoise® lamps were considered integral to the interior design, so a series of Original 1227™
and Type 75™ Mini
desk lamps were introduced into the bedrooms. With the 64 Degrees restaurant and cocktail bar occupying the ground floor of the building, (a collaboration between Artist Residence and restaurateur Michael Bremner), hotel guests can enjoy good food in an ambient setting, then make their way upstairs for a restful night’s sleep.
