TFL ‘Year of the Bus’ Restaurant and Bar

PROJECT: TFL ‘Year of the Bus’ Restaurant and Bar at designjunction 2014

INTERIOR DESIGN: Michael Sodeau Studio

The concept behind the TFL ‘Year of the Bus’ restaurant and bar was to create an open plan space with a combination of eating areas, comprising central communal dining tables and benches as well as a more traditional café/bistro style area. This simple pared back approach was also echoed in the furniture and lighting, supplied by Anglepoise®, Modus and NUD and allowed Anglepoise® to showcase their new Type75™ Maxi Pendant, in a restaurant/bar setting. Kirkby, who produce textiles for both the bus and underground, supplied the upholstery fabrics. Digital bus timetable displays supplied by Trueform were used to display the food menus and located above the enamelled steel counters, custom made by A J Wells & Sons. The large graphic images supplied from the TFL archive gave a glimpse into the history of the London bus, and enveloped the space.
