This is part 2 of a 5-part series of guides on using the iconic Original 1227™ range at home. Written by design writer Charlotte Abrahams. You can read part 1 here (Kitchen & Dining Room Lighting) and part 3 here (Bedroom Lighting).
We give you the inside track to a perfectly-lit living room in the second of our series guide to lighting your home with pieces from the Anglepoise® Original 1227™ collection.
The living room is a place of relaxation, a room where we sit back to read, to socialise and to watch television. Ideally, our living space will be filled with natural light streaming in through generous, south-facing windows; however, for many of us, the reality is somewhat darker. But look on the bright side: dark rooms provide the perfect excuse to splash out on some absolutely fabulous lights.
As living rooms don’t really need general illumination, you can probably do without a central pendant here and focus instead on creating layers of light using multiple sources. (However, if you have a ceiling rose and feel that it would look odd without a pendant, go for a feature light that is more about form than function – try the Original 1227™ Giant Pendant in a large space, or an Original 1227™ Mini Ceramic Cluster which creates a warm glow.
